Course Description:
This course provides an in-depth exploration of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) and its role in protecting survivors of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, stalking, and human trafficking in federally assisted housing programs. Designed for housing professionals, the course equips participants with the knowledge and practical tools needed to implement VAWA requirements accurately, consistently, and with survivor-centered sensitivity. Duration: 3 hours

Housing professionals, including property managers, occupancy specialists, public housing supervisors, and housing authority staff.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify the purpose of VAWA
- Apply VAWA definitions appropriately
- Determine eligibility for VAWA protections
- Identify required certifications and documentation
- Apply confidentiality requirements when handling VAWA-related information
- Describe public housing and Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program obligations under VAWA
- Identify PHA family break-up policies under VAWA
- Describe termination of the victim for actual and imminent threat to other tenants
- Apply VAWA recordkeeping and reporting requirements
- Recognize the role of victim service providers and the value of community partnerships
- Identify fair housing and nondiscrimination obligations
Course Test: To earn CEUs, you must complete all the required coursework and earn 70% or higher on the final assessment. You may retake the assessment until you earn a passing score.
